2012 (AC - Championships)
I am sorry to report that Norfolk, who made a provisional entry last November, has decided that they cannot raise a team, which leaves us with only ten teams in the second division, one being the CA Select. The matter was discussed at the AC Tournament Committee on 4 Feb and the committee felt that the first aim should be to maintain the normal schedule by running two CA Select teams. Because both Norfolk and Wiltshire have effectively just withdrawn and Shropshire is looking at building a Counties team in the near future, there should be a suitable pool of players to build two CA Select teams.
As well as generally publishing our plans on the CA web site, it was agreed that the Tournament Director would individually invite all known players from the three counties to play. We would also like to remind all County Organisers that if they have more players than required or individual players with no county to play for, we will have two teams to fill so please contact me direct if you are interested in playing. I will act as the Organiser for both Select teams for the present. Once all interested parties are known we will look at a logical grouping.
As a fall-back plan, we will proceed on the basis that each team has two byes, the second being the planned game against CA Select 2.

The 2012 Inter-County Championship draw is now published.
Please note that the event is a week later than normal this year. The late May Bank holiday has been moved to the first Monday in June because of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations. Also the Tuesday is a Bank Holiday so players will not have to take any leave to play on the Tuesday this year.
Unfortunately Wiltshire and Norfolk were both unable to raise a team this year and so there will be two CA Select teams in the second division. Anyone who wants to play, and this includes overseas CA members, should contact Bill Arliss.
Looking at the draw the big Nottingham v Somerset match is at Compton on the first evening, whilst the grudge Cheshire v Lancashire match is on the final afternoon.
