Omied Hallam won the Nottingham C Advanced Weekend

[<<] [>>] by Bob Thompson at Nottingham Croquet Club
29 July 2012 (AC)

Omied Hallam (4.5) won the Nottingham 'C' Advanced with six out of six wins. Ten players, including visitors from Blewbury and Hamptworth, competed for the Eclipse Goblet at Highfields Park, Nottingham in glorious weather. Omied Hallam and Lawrence Whittaker were the only two competitors on Sunday with 100% wins.

The playoff between them saw opportunities for both players: Omied's hoop running came unstuck on several occasions, but Lawrence wasn't able to take full advantage and Omied won +10.

Play was abandoned after the lawns were flooded during a thunder and lightning storm on Sunday afternoon, this didn't affect the winner, Omied, who had already played and won six games.
Although there were no successful triple peels recorded, there were several attempted, Omied and David Brydon were close to gaining them.

An enjoyable relaxed event on good lawns, many thanks to all behind the scenes for making it a success.
