Philip Wood of Kenilworth Croquet Club won the Centre Stage Tournament

Philip Wood from Kenilworth Croquet Club won the 2012 Centre Stage national final.

Sixteen finalists from eight clubs from all over the country competed for the Centre Stage trophy, a GC competition for medium handicap players, (handicap range 5 - 8). All the players had fought their way through club elimination rounds to reach this final stage of the competition.

The weather was exceptionally kind to us, with warm sunshine all day, and Northampton's lawns were in fine condition for some excellent croquet to be played!

Some very competitive games in the initial league stage produced two clear leaders who then went on to contest the final.

Philip Wood from Kenilworth CC beat John Bradley from Camerton & Peasdown CC in a very tightly contested final by 7-5.

In the 3rd and 4th place play-off, John Noble from Letchworth CC beat Michael Wiles from Phyllis Court CC by 7-2

All-in-all a very enjoyable day, played in great spirit by all concerned.

Special thanks must go to Northampton CC who hosted us once again in their usual friendly manner, and even provided us with some spectators!
