Nick Cheyne beat Tim King in the final 7-3, 6-7, 7-6, a very hard fought battle.

Nick had been the form player all weekend, winning his block with only one loss. Tim was less secure on Saturday, only coming third in his block but beat Paddy Chapman and Howard Cheyne, each in two straight games in the main knockout.

Debbie Cornelius won the consolation event, bringing forward her record from Saturday (3 wins out of 4) against the other players who did not qualify for the knockout and then on Sunday winning all her games against the five non-qualifiers from the other block. The next players only had 6 wins in total. Special credit goes to Patricia Duke-Cox, who took wins against three higher ranked players on the Sunday after a disappointing block phase.

Faste Grot travelled all the way from Norway to experience competitive croquet. He played with great enthusiasm.

David Barrett, Paul Rigge and a team of volunteers from the Bury Croquet Club provided very welcome hospitality.
