AC Inter-County titles awarded to Nottinghamshire and Suffolk after rain stops play

After heavy overnight rain on Monday night, players arrived at Southwick to find two lawns unplayable and the rain still falling. However play continued on the remaining lawns and all the penultimate round matches were eventually completed despite standing water on most lawns. An impromptu meeting between the Manager and members of the AC Tournament committee available, decided that conditions were too bad to continue and the final round at Southwick was abandoned. Conditions at Compton were far better and both final rounds were completed without delay.
It was agreed that both Nottingham and Suffolk had done sufficient for them to be awarded the division one and two titles but all minor places plus promotion and relegation issues would not be announced until the Tournament Committee had studied all regulations for incomplete blocks
