Nottingham beat Woodhall Spa 4-3

5 June 2013 (GC - Inter-Club Shield)

Nottingham versus Woodhall Spa in the golf croquet Murphy Shield first round held 5 June 2013

Neither club had progressed beyond the first round in previous years, so this event was bound to provide happiness for one club. Nottingham, with their excellent full size courts were the hosts and the visitors, who generally play on half size courts, appreciated playing on fine lawns.

The morning matches of one best of three (bo3) doubles and two bo3 singles were all won by Nottingham, but after lunch Woodhall Spa players responded well and comfortably won the next three bo3 singles matches. This left the founder member of the Woodhall Spa club, now playing for Nottingham, competing against the current chairman of the Woodhall Spa club. This match went to the 13th hoop of the third game with Nottingham winning 4:3 matches.
