East Dorset June Tournament Results

East Dorset CC were fortunate with the weather for their June Tournament this year, the forecast thunderstorms did not materialise but the wind on Saturday did , however, test the players.

Handicap Singles

The week started with the Handicap singles which was played as an X and Y knockout.
The final of the X was between Nigel Parkins and Julie Horsley, with Julie just managing to win +3T.
The final of the Y was between Nigel Betts and Ken Pickett, with Nigel winning +15

Class Singles

The Class Singles were divided into 3 blocks.
In Block A - Richard Griffiths won 6 of his 7 games to win the Dorset Salver. David Harrison-Wood was runner-up with 5 wins.

In Block B - on Saturday before the last games in the block were played 4 players - David Kendrick, Nigel Betts, Ken Pickett and Nigel Parkins all had 4 wins. Nigel Betts beat David Kendrick and Ken Pickett beat Nigel Parkins, so 5 wins each to Nigel Betts and Ken Pickett.
Earlier Ken Pickett had beaten Nigel Betts so was declared the winner.
Nigel Parkins with the highest handicap in this block, did well to gain 4 wins and was rewarded with a handicap reduction from 6 to 5.

In Block C - the handicap play block - after the last games had been played, there were
4 players, Peggy Nutland, John Pollard, Julie Horsley and Duncan Reeves all with 3 wins.
On quality of wins Peggy and John were eliminated and as Duncan had beaten Julie, he was declared the winner.
There was a very small entry for the doubles. In the final Ken Pickett and Peggy Nutland beat David Price and Nigel Parkins.
