The weekend of croquet was managed excellently by David Goacher (the Goat), with an equally excellent - if somewhat drunken - pinball competition on the Saturday night (managed by Ed Duckworth).
The lawns were a pacy 13.5 seconds, giving a significant advantage to the locals who had previously practised on them. Despite much speculation about the format by the Manager, the biggest upset of day 1 was the Goat failing to qualify from his block.
Having eased their way through on day 1, the obvious seeds (Burch, Duckworth and Chambers) were slain on day 2, with tremendous performances by Richard (Smudger) Smith and Robert (The Axeman) Wilkinson.
Despite playing a fantastic turn in the final (hitting in and going round from nowhere), The Axeman fell to Trimmer, who finished with an incredibly lucky turn - missing a roquet after 1-back ... but randomly hitting the 2-back pioneer instead.
