The Solomon Trophy, a regular match between Great Britain and the United States of America, will provide a curtain-raiser for the World Championship to be held later in August.
The Solomon Trophy, to be held at the Hunstanton Croquet Club from the 6-9 August, will be contested by teams of six players over the four days in a combination of singles and doubles. The contest started in 1985 and was called The Solomon Trophy from 1988, following the presentation of the trophy by the then CA President, John Solomon. It is played alternately in the USA and England, except in years when the Macrobertson Shield is played.
Since 1985, the trophy has been won by GB 18 times, with the USA managing to wrest it in 2011 and 2009, before it returned to GB in 2012. Spectators are welcome at this keenly contested event.
The players in this year's event are:
Great Britain
Samir Patel (Captain)
Marcus Evans
James Hopgood
David Maugham
Stephen Mulliner
Robert Wilkinson
United States of America
Doug Grimsley (Captain)
Paul Bennett
Robert Hurst
Mike Taylor
David Maloof
Chris Patmore
All the players taking part in the Solomon are playing in the AC World Championships to be held in London 10-18 August 2013.
