Biennial Friendly Challenge Carrickmines V Hurlingham

[<<] [>>] by Joe Cunningham
22nd April 2002 (International)

The Biennial Friendly Challenge took place over the week end 20/21 April at Carrickmines with 18 Singles played and 8 Doubles. Both teams had players from -2 to 20 Handicap, so every grade was catered for. This was our third meeting, two in Dublin and one in Hurlingham.

The various games were matched by handicap as far as possible, since it is a friendly meeting, and the result was a perfect one - a draw 13 points each side. Saturday's games were Handicap and Sunday's games were Advanced.

One of the surprises was Bob Stephens (3.5) beat Ed Cunningham (-2) +17 in their advanced singles game.

A most enjoyable meeting, good craic, food, and songs after Dinner. This is what Croquet should be all about - having fun and renewing friendships in this troubled world.
