Carole Mcloughlin won the Roehampton end of season Handicap Event

[<<] [>>] by Mike Hann at Roehampton Club
24 Sep 2013 (AC - Handicap)

Twelve players competed in 2 blocks for the traditional end-of-season singles event for a mixture of high and low bisquers, ranging from 16 to 0. The weather was reasonable but even the standard width hoops and true lawns resulted in 30% of the matches going to the 3 hour time limit, with some double banking.

Praise was due to the back marker and Roehampton member Tim Russell (0) who manfully won 5 out of his 7 matches (giving away a total of 62 bisques) through efficient tactical play but that wasn't good enough in the final block play-off to deny Carole McLoughlin from Ealing (12) so gaining her first win in the event with a 7/7 record. Her handicap is now down to 10. Tim deserved further praise for providing a bottle of wine on behalf of all, for the manager, and tasty biscuits for enjoyment over the 3 days.

More detailed results are:

Carole McLoughlin 7/7
Tim Russell 5/7
Nicholas Halton 4/6
Gina Lewis 4/7
John Bowman 4/7
Arthur Lindley 4/7
John Reynolds 3/6
Wendy Spencer Smith 3/6
Peter Siddall 3/7
Collin Southern 2/7
Bob Prichard 1/7
Irmgard Tonolu 0/6
