New Zealand's series win was the first time they have won in a four-country event and was their fourth series win overall taking them ahead of Australia who have three wins. Three of New Zealand's four wins have been at home, with their only overseas victory being in Britain in 1986.
England's defeat by New Zealand was the first defeat for the CA's team in a 21-rubber MacRobertson test match and it was the first defeat in any Mac test since Australia beat GB 5-4 at Colchester in July 1986.
It was the first defeat for a team called England in the Mac since New Zealand beat England in Wellington in December 1950.
Robert Fulford and David Maugham became the second and third players to reach 100 matches in the MacRobertson Shield after John Prince who reached the total in 2003.
USA's total of eight match (rubber) wins was the lowest in the current format, beating their previous lowest of 17 set in 1996.
Chris Clarke's total of 14 match (rubber) wins equalled his own best, which he achieved in 2006. Robert Fulford set the record in 1996 winning all 15 matches. This was the third time Clarke has won all nine doubles matches.
Jenny Clarke has now won 18 matches (rubbers) and has become the all time leading women having overtaken DD Steel who won 17.
Note this was the sixth time the current format of six 21 rubber test matches has been held.
