Sonoma WCC - Reg Bamford beat Robert Fulford 26QP

[<<] [>>] by John Taylor
18th May 2002 (International)

It's all over for yet another year. Reg Bamford beat Robert Fulford 26QP.

As I sit here doing this report the auction is going on and I can hear the auctioneer calling bids for the auction lots. The last bottle of wine just sold for $6,500 in less time than it took for me to type this sentence. That is a relatively low price for these wine lots. Now the item is a week long Fly Fishing vacation in Montana for two. Sorry you are too late to bid as it just sold for $16,000. Lot 20 (12 day vacation in France for 2) just went for $24,000. Perhaps you understand why I'm sitting here writing this report instead of bidding.

Remember all this money goes to charity for children with life-threatening illnesses and to provide a lifeline to children at risk in a perilous world. Last year over 1 Million dollars was raised for Make-A-Wish, Magic Moments and the Polly Klass Foundation. Many thanks to the players and others who make this such a special event and a very special THANK YOU to our sponsors The Henry Wine Group, Mercedes-Benz, Brown-Forman, Creative Leisure International, Fountaingrove Inn, Glass Architects, Gordon Graphics, The Jones/Porth Family Foundation, Lloyd W.Aubry Co., Richard's Grove and Saralee's Vineyard, Sonoma-Cutrer Vineyards and Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP.

Just in case you are interested I also know who won the final which was just completed between the worlds Number 1 and Number 2 ranked players. The winner by a score of 26-0 with a quadruple peel was Reg Bamford.
