Nelson Morrow won the GC Veteran's Championship

Nelson Morrow won the GC Vets in Budleigh Salterton.

Twenty-eight players from South Africa, Australia and from all over the UK assembled for the
Alan Oldham Memorial Trivet at Budleigh Salterton.

The first two days were played as two blocks of 14 with single 13-point games. The A block was won by local groundsman Rob Weeks ( 11/13) and the B block by the manager Nelson Morrow(12/13) from Hurlingham.

The other quarter finalists included two time winner Dick Strover (Colchester), Tom Weston( East Dorset), John Bowcott ( Hurlingham),Chris Sheen (Colchester), the Australian David Wise and a new star in the making Elizabeth Farrow (Sussex).

All quarter finals went to three games with Nelson defeating club mate John Bowcott, Chris Sheen beating Tom Weston, Rob Weeks beating Dick Strover and Elizabeth Farrow defeating top seed David Wise.

The final repeated the block results with local boy Rob Weeks taking on Nelson Morrow. The large group of locals were enthralled with the final.

The first game went to Nelson 7-3 with some accurate play. Rob came back strongly in the second displaying the form he had produced in previous games to win 7-3. The final game had the two players trading hoops with accurate clearing and long hoop running until hoop 11 when Nelson played some superb shots to win 7-5.
The consolation Swiss was won by Tom Weston defeating David Wise 7-6.

Budleigh proved to be a popular venue with fast lawns and fantastic weather.
