David Frost won the Colchester Spring Weekend Handicap Tournament

[<<] [>>] by Nick Steiner at Colchester Croquet Club
31 may 2015 (AC - Handicap)

avid Frost won the singles event(The John Foreman cup). David Haslam & Keith Saunders won the doubles at Colchester Croquet club.

On the Friday six pairs took part in the doubles, playing fourteen point games. Five games were played so each pair played the others. David and Keith romped home winning all their five games easily. Ron Atkinson & Jeff Farrington tied with Nick Steiner & Erica Malaiperuman, both teams winning 3 games and a draw. Fortunately the heavy rain came at lunch time, so play was mostly dry.

Sixteen competitors entered the singles for Saturday, and fifteen for Sunday, but unfortunately Heather Bennett was struck down by an unknown virus and was unable to play. David Frost played extremely accurate croquet hitting centre ball from all over the court. He won all of his six games with ease. There were some close contests in the other games, and in spite of the cold wind and occasional shower a good time was had by all.

The lawns were in superb condition. Excellent food and good company as we have come to expect at Colchester.
