Stephen Thornton won June GC Handicap at Letchworth

Stephen Thornton, visiting the UK from his home in Australia, beat Letchworth's Peter Aspinall 10-7. Stephen was a worthy winner. He had played consistently well in the block stage, and his superior hoop running skills proved just too much for Peter despite Peter's 12 extra turns! The lawns were blisteringly fast even by Letchworth standards which, on a hot muggy day, had tested to the limit players' ability to make effective use of extra turns.
