The International Laws Committee (ILC) have published an official ruling on Law 53(b)(3), which deals with strokes affected by mis-set hoops. In essence, the ruling is that a replay will only be permitted if the outcome of the stroke was materially affected and the player was attempting to get either his, or another, ball through the hoop and he must attempt the hoop again in any replay, otherwise the ball(s) will be left where they ended after the original stroke.
