Event 1, The Robin Hood Cup (handicap singles) had 32 entries and was played as a flexible Swiss until Thursday night, when the top 8 were drawn into a knockout
Semi-finals: Sophie McGlen (14) beat Viv Staley (18) +17
Sue Wileman (12) beat Ian Draper (8) +1t
Final: McGlen beat Wileman +15t
Sophie was the first female winner of the event since 1959, and it is possible that the final was the first ever between two women.
Event 2, Open Singles had 13 entries. Played as a flexible Swiss until Friday, when the top 4 were drawn into a knockout
Semi-finals: Jonathan Hills beat Martin Beacon +17tp
Joel Taylor beat Sanaa Hallam +16
Final: Taylor beat Hills +13tpo +26
Event 3, B Level Singles (handicap 3+, advanced play), had 7 entries, played as an American block followed by a play-off between the top 2 players.
Final: Michael Finnigan beat Richard Meacock +5
Event 4, C Level Singles (handicap 8+, Ordinary Level Singles), had 7 entries, played as an American block. Time did not allow a play-off. The block was won by Ann Brookes (8) with 5/6, and there was a tie for second place between Charles Ostler (10) and Sue Wileman (12)
Event 5, D Handicap Singles (handicap 14+, full bisque base 10), had 3 entries, played as a double American block. Viv Staley (18) with 4 wins out of 4, beat Andrew Beaumont (18)who had 2 wins.
Event 6, Handicap Doubles had 10 pairs, played as a straight knockout
