Tom Coles won the Hurlingham May Weekend

There was a full entry of 40 players, with handicaps ranging from a top block of ten 0.5's or less to several with double-figure handicaps.
In some years the top block is overwhelmed by Jeff Dawson but he was away this year and the close result was a victory for Tom Coles - a rare win for the home team. Andrew Wise had a tooth infection which forced him to withdraw after many games below his usual form. The highlight was a straight triple peel by Andrew Dutton in the second block. This still didn't win him the block: two other players also had five wins, and he had done relatively badly in the games between them. Henry Bagwell with the highest handicap in the bottom block did well to take three games, including against the writer.
The winners and runners-up were: Block 1, Tom Coles, Mark Ormerod; Block 2, Peter Siddall, Chris Roberts; Block 3, Jonathan Powe, Ian Parkinson; Block 4, Martin Burger, John Culhane, Collin Southern.
