Surbiton beat Woking 6-1 in the Inter-Club Championship. Surbiton made a good start with Stephen Mulliner and Samir Patel defeating Jeff Dawson and Mike Town 7-4, 7-4 and Harry Fisher beating Bernard Jones 7-5, 7-6 while Malcolm Bigg kept the visitors' hope alive by winning 7-2, 7-2 against Ed Dymock.

Stephen defeated Jeff 7-3, 7-4 to give Surbiton a 3-1 lead at lunch and Harry had the honour of winning the decisive point by beating Malcolm 7-3, 7-5. At 6-4 down in game 2, Malcolm ran 11 in game 2 from the North boundary to within 3 yards of 12 but Harry jawsed from just north of 11 and then peeled it with a shot which curled round the peg! Samir and Ed both dropped the first game against Mike and Bernard but then rediscovered the art of running hoops.
