The second day of the third test was an opportunity for the desert to fight back, with forecast temperatures of 40 degrees Centigrade..

Maugham and Hopgood were on the receiving end of a 'no croquet' match +26tp +26tp to NZ top pair of Chapman and Hakes.

Patel and Mulliner had a good quality match against Clarke and Tahurangi with only one error per side, but Clarke's superior shooting saw the NZ pair home +26 -13tpo +25tp.

Death and Burch had an opportunity for a quick win, but an error brought Hogan and Shilling back into the match, and played better for much of the hottest part of the day. However, a late error in the third game let to another tight finish which the England pair finally edged +26tp -11 +3.
