(CqE Official News)
Marian Hemsted, the CA's Independent Examiner, has decided to retire after many years of service to the membership. The Examiner is appointed each year by the AGM, and the CA is now seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced members willing to put their name forward for election.
The accounts are prepared each year by the Hon Treasurer, and the Independent Examiner's role is to check the underlying records and schedules, and to report to Council and the membership any particular matters which have come to his/her attention. The CA is not required to have a statutory audit of its accounts, and the extent of the examination required does not provide all the evidence which would be necessary in a full audit.
The Examiner is normally involved in work from mid-January to early March each year, with the intention that Council at its March meeting should be able to approve the accounts for submission to the AGM. A modest honorarium is paid to the Examiner.
For more information, please contact the Hon Treasurer, Peter Death, at peter.j.death#gmail.com in the first instance, no later than 22nd September.
