(AC - Handicap)
Roehampton's End of Season AC Handicap Tournament was played over the weekend of 9-10 Sept in autumnal weather, though with only one cloudburst, during which players carried on stoically. The field of 16 covered handicaps ranging from 16 down to -1, with the fast lawns contributing to all but 6 of the total of 40 games finishing before time, many within 2 hours.
The first day saw Andre Machell (Watford) powering to 3 wins, all in double-quick time, with only Sally Hunt (Roehampton) also winning all her games. Andre continued his impressive display of skill and speed on the Sunday, beating both Sally and his Watford colleague, Alan Clark, to end as the clear winner with 5 wins out of 5 - and bringing his handicap down to 8. Equally clear runner-up, recovering from an early loss to end with 4 wins - and beating former triple champion Gina Pellegrini in the last round - was Elaine Phillimore of the home club.
