Surbiton beat Sussex County 7-0

[<<] [>>] by Stephen Mulliner at Southwick
11 Aug 2002 (AC - Inter-Club)

Surbiton proved too strong for the home club producing a 7-0 whitewash.

The results were (Surbiton names first):

S. Mulliner and P. Hort bt D. Mundy and J. Davies +24
C. Patmore bt. D. Parkin +13
G. Noble bt. G. Healy +4

S. Mulliner bt D. Mundy +19
P. Hort bt J. Davies +26TP
C. Patmore bt G. Healy +8
G. Noble bt. D Parkin +17 STP.

Noble/Healy provided the most exciting finish. George had earlier failed to take two chances to clinch the game and Gerard, having pegged out George's Red, was close to completing a fine recovery when he failed a long rover with R in Corner 3. George, despite having missed some shorter peg-out attempts, now hit from 21 yards in best Burge style (in-joke from 1998 final vs. Cheltenham) to make it 2-0 and set Surbiton on their way.
