8th February 2018 (World Championship)

Two English players, Stephen Mulliner and Samir Patel, have qualified for the last eight of the AC World Championship, along with two Australians, two New Zealander's, a Spaniard and a South African. Stephen won a tight 3-game match against Aiken Hakes of New Zealand; Samir beat Greg Fletcher in two. James Death had some play after being TPO'd in the first game against the Spaniard, Jose Riva, but didn't take croquet in the second; Pete Trimmer lost in two to Australian Simon Hockey and David Maugham suffered the same fate against Reg Bamford, who represents South Africa. Having won the first, Christian Carter narrowly lost the second game against Greg Bryant, who has considerable local support, but only scored one hoop in the decider.
