John Filsak carries off the Robin Hood Gold Cup at the Nottingham Annual Tournament

[<<] [>>] by Ian Vincent at Nottingham
12-18 Aug 2002 (AC - Mixed)

Nottingham struck lucky with the conditions last week, with the ideal combination of dry sunny weather following more than enough rain to have kept the grass green. A full programme, which I left my deputy manager, Peter Death, to try and complete on the final day, ended with a classic win by one on time in the doubles. Mary Knapp, a visitor, and John Filsak, a local, contested the final of the big handicap, with John shuffling round the court, having been wheeled back to the pavilion on a bicycle earlier in the week after pulling a leg muscle.
