Despite the unusually high temperatures and lawns that were dry and fast, it was surprising that of the 20 games played only 7 went to time. However, despite their speed the Letchworth lawns, although suffering from the lack of water, were running true and fast and were remarkably flat leading to accurate play but a tad on the slow side.
Gary Bennett led the field and won all three of his games in fine style on the first day leaving the rest of the field chasing to catch up. On the second day Gary kept up his blistering form and ran out the winner of the tournament overall with 100% wins.
Surprise of the tournament was David Mathews of the home club playing of handicap 5 in his first tournament finishing in second place with 3 wins which also earned him a reduction in handicap to 4.5. Third place also with 3 wins was Brian Havill.
