[<<] [>>] by David Boyd at Pendle and Craven
14 May 2019 (AC - Secretary's Shield)

Chester and Tyneside played their first round match in the 2019 Secretary's Shield tournament on Tuesday 14th May at Pendle and Craven CC, that being about midway between the two clubs. Chester made a good start in the morning session by narrowly winning the doubles and one of the singles games to give them a 2 games to 1 lead by lunchtime. The first two results in from the afternoon singles were both wins for Chester, to clinch a match victory, the final score line being Chester 4 - Tyneside 3. The match, played in brilliant weather, was evenly balanced and really could have gone either way. Chester, now through to the second, round will play Broadwas CC, Worcestershire.
Our thanks to Pendle & Craven for their hospitality
