The Federation Europeenne de Croquet held its AGM on Thursday, 19th September 2002 in Jersey. A new Management Committee was voted in, comprising Peter Payne (Switzerland) as President and Sarah Burrow (Jersey), Jose-Luis Alvares-Sala (Spain), Kevin Garrad (Isle of Man) and Bruce Rannie (Scotland) as members. The various roles will be distributed amongst the Management Committee members shortly. Outgoing members, Charles-Eric Vilain XIIII (Belgium), Don Gaunt (England) and Bill Lamb (England) have collectively put in many years of sterling service to the FEC and our thanks go to them for their commitment, enthusiasm and effort over the years.
Two modifications were accepted to the Constitution. The rules governing membership have been relaxed somewhat to allow clubs to represent countries where only one club and no national association exist. Postal (including electronic) voting has been authorised in order to speed up procedures and create a more democratic system of decision making. Following these changes, France (represented by the Bayeux Croquet Club) and Austria were unanimously accepted to membership of the FEC, bringing total membership up to fifteen. Good luck to these two in promoting and developing the sport in their respective countries.
