York Open Short Croquet Tournament, 21-22 September

[<<] [>>] by John Harris at York
22nd October 2019 (AC - Handicap)

This popular tournament again attracted a full house of 24 competitors drawn from all over the country. The weather was kind and the smooth York lawns made for an enjoyable weekend's play.

Tournament Manager Dave Hudson steered everyone smoothly and efficiently through ten games in an atmosphere of friendly and supportive competitiveness.

This is still the only short croquet tournament in the Fixtures Book and, played as it is 'by the book' with full bisques, allows those taking their first steps in tournament croquet to enjoy games against players of all handicaps.

Congratulations to rising star James Thomas from Llanfairfechan and Chester CCs for pegging out within time in most of his games and fending off some strong competition to lift the trophy.
