(AC - Championships)
Following the previous notice on 2 June, the Croquet Association (CA) and Cheltenham Croquet Club (CCC) have agreed a set of principles to enable to the 2020 AC Open Championship to go ahead on the postponed dates (1-6 September). This decision is based on current government advice. Changes to national or local (to Cheltenham) guidance could affect the event.
Unfortunately, the CA has concluded that the Doubles Championship cannot proceed, and we regret that this will be cancelled for 2020. This, however, allows the singles Croquet Championship to proceed using the same format that had been initially proposed for 2020.
We encourage players to enter the Croquet Championship before the allocation date of 4 August. As well as maximising your chances of being allocated a place, this will also help give the CA a clearer view of the size of the entry. This will allow us to refine the detail of the event, something which will take into account experiences from other tournaments, and in particular the Championship of Surrey (currently underway) and the Ladies Sixes (at Cheltenham 8-9 August).
