Ian Vincent gave notice at the AGM last October that he did not intend to stand for re-election as Hon. Secretary in October 2021, but as yet no one has been found to replace him. The Council's Nominations Committee has looked at what the existing role currently covers, and suggests that it could be broken down as follows:
a) Giving guidance to the Chairmen of Council and the Executive Board on top level administrative matters (e.g. employment law) and compliance with regulations.
b) Preparing agendas and writing minutes of Council, Executive Board and General meetings.
c) Organising voting procedures for election of Council members and for motions put to general meetings.
d) Maintaining the constitution, standing orders, CA practice book and record of significant decisions. (It is recognised that there will be a period of exceptional activity in this area to transition to any new legal status the CA may adopt and that this would need to be handled by a specific group drawn from members with the relevant expertise.)
e) Administration of complaints.
These are not cast in stone, and it is hoped that discussions can be held with anyone interested in one or more of them to find a division that would suit them.
Anyone willing to consider taking on any of these elements should contact Ian Vincent before the end of the month.
