(GC - Championships)
Upgraded this year from the Open Series to the Championship Series (Ascot Cup qualifier), the Dorset GC Open attracted a stronger field than in previous years. Stephen Mulliner joined us for the first time, as did Tony Butcher, fresh from his victory at the GC Veterans the week before, and Chris Roberts returned having not played in the event since 2011 (when Jack Wicks won).
As usual, sixteen entrants were split into two blocks of 8, which produced 8 quarter-finalists for the Knockout and 8 for the Plate.
Paul Durkin carried off the bottle of wine as the Plate winner, beating Stephen Custance-Baker 7-5 in the final.
The Championship Final was a close affair between Stephen Mulliner and Chris Roberts, but Stephen's exemplary all-round game saw him over the line with a 2-0 win (7-5, 7-5).
