The Tournament Regulations have been updated for the 2022 season and apply to all Calendar Fixtures.
The changes of substance made since the 2021 edition are as follows:
- References to GC Rules updated throughout to reflect the new 6th Edition GC Rules
- C2(a)(11): Requirement to publish the draw changed from the Draw Date to as soon as practicable. The draw should still be conducted on that date.
- C2(b)(3)(C): Mandate for Super-Advanced Play removed for AC Grade 1 Championships. As per Regulation L1, Super-Advanced may still be played with the agreement of all players in a game or match.
- C2(b)(6): Charity events must name the charity.
- C2(b)(7-8): Federation and Academy are now reserved words within the titles of Calendar Entries.
- C3(a) and C3(b): Allocation Date and Closing Date definitions and procedures reviewed for consistency and Regulations C3(a) and C3(b) rearranged into chronological order. The Allocation Date is the date on which places are first allocated. The Closing Date is the date on which entries close. The Draw Date is the date on which the draw is conducted. Text from P3(c) has been moved and replaced with a reference to C3.
- F2(e) and F2(f): The procedure for incomplete blocks is now the same for AC and GC events. Consequently, F2(g) has been deleted, and Appendix 3 renamed.
- L1: Advantage GC now available to any event or tournament, at the discretion of the Tournament Manager.
- P3(c): Clarification that players entering doubles events as single players will be paired by the manager at the Closing Date. A consequential addition has been made in the form of Regulation C3(b)(3). Players are strongly encouraged to find and indicate their partner prior to the Allocation Date.
- R: Regulation added to confirm prior practice that the 'official list of referees' referred to in the Refereeing Regulations are those recorded in the CA database has having the relevant qualification. The regulation also provides a default position (which may be modified by a Tournament Referee) about the scope of activity of qualified referees. For AC, this includes assistant referees.
Many other changes have been made for clarity or to remove typographic or formatting errors, but without any change of intent. These include:
- A large number of changes to remove the use of gendered language.
- CA Manager is now the CA Operations Manager.
- C1(d) is now explicit that courses may be run by Clubs or Academies.
- C1(d)(2)(C) clarifies that Refereeing coaching events should be led by an Examining Referee.
- The preamble to Regulation L has transferred into a new Regulation L1, with the remainder of Regulation L re-numbered accordingly.
- The obsolete reference to club handicaps (distinct from official handicaps) has been removed.
- Appendix 2(c) amended to enable the CA Office to confirm receipt of trophies by means other than by signed paper receipt. This reflects the new practice of doing so by e-mail.
