Richard Bilton Wins Hunstanton GC Open Series

As entries were slightly down (to 14) the format this year had to be modified into two blocks of seven who crossed blocked, with the top four in each processing into the normal quarter, semi and final format. With the remaining six playing an all play all format for the plate.

With the lawns running well with tight hoops and unusual fine weather for the area we welcomed both Ian and Debbie Lines back to the fold who, as expected, proved formidable opponents.

However, the final round between Richard Bilton and Nick Archer proved something of an anti-climax as Nick seemed to go off the boil as Richard, who was increasing in form as the day progressed, winning both games.

The talking point of the game was Richard's superb two-hoop turn through hoops 5 and 6 which had many eyes checking that the peg was in the centre of the lawn, which of course was in no doubt.

The Plate proved as tight as ever with three contestants Paul Durkin, Jane Tewson and Roger Goldring all finishing on three wins each. The winner on hoops turned out to be Paul Durkin.
