An outbreak of Covid in the North West and a last minute withdrawal from injury resulted in a reduced number playing in what proved to be a very close exciting Tournament.
10 players from across the country, who came from various Clubs including Eynsham, Auckland, Ripon Spa, Crake Valley, Fylde and Pendle, as well as three players from Bury, were all welcomed to the quality lawns at Whitehead Park, Bury, for this B Level tournament.
David Cornes(Crake Valley) was the official Tournament referee, who proved of great help and assistance to myself and others on the Bury Management Team. Thank you David.
2 Cross blocks of 5 games resulted in 4 players reaching the semi- final. Edwin Bone (Eynsham) v Marcia Henderson (Auckland) and Libby Dixon (Pendle) v Ian Saunders (Bury). These were both close games and both were won 7-5 by Edwin and Libby. Ian took 3rd place over Marcia, winning 7-4.
'Star of the Show' for Bury CC was Ian Saunders appearing in his first home Tournament. Well done Ian!
Edwin and Libby only dropped one game each enroute to the final and again it was a close match which resulted in Edwin being victorious 7-5. He was presented the cup by Club President David Barrett.
