GB beat Ireland 10-5
[<<] [>>] by Robert Fulford

(International)
GB started the match with only five players. Matt Burrow's airline cancelled his flight at short notice and unfortunately he couldn't find another flight out despite spending hours at the airport on Friday.
The original idea was to play a round of doubles and two rounds of singles, but rather than have one unplayed doubles match Colin Irwin and Simon Williams played singles in the first round.
Simon had a world class set of results beating Irwin, Mulliner and Avery in succession.
Ed Cunningham looked to have Chris Clarke beaten but just needing to run rover to the boundary from a yard straight, only ran through by a yard and then missed his following six yarder by hitting rover on his backswing.
In the end GB were comfortable winners, with Ireland perhaps showing its lack of strength in depth when players such as Mark McInerney and Andrew Johnson are absent.
The final results were (GB players first)
