Gabrielle Higgins wins the Nottingham Open Weekend

The popularity of the event continues and this year the numbers increased to 25. Nottingham now has 9 lawns so with 7 in use for the tournament it was nice that members were still able to play. The facilities at Nottingham are really excellent with the new lawns a joy to play on. With plans to improve the older lawns this winter, it remains one of the top venues in the country.
Gabrielle finished the tournament on 5 out of 5, the only player to finish with a 100% record. She went into an early lead by beating James Death, the holder, in the first round. She was unlucky not to get many easy games as the Manager kept giving her games against other winners. Her final tally was impressive given the quality of her opposition. There were four players who finished with just one loss, Debbie Lines, Ian Lines and Neal Bacon, but the runner-up prize went to Omied having played more games with 6 out of 7 wins. James Death wins the prize for most games played, with 7 wins out of his 9 games.
Our thanks to Beatrice and Irmgard for their fantastic lunches and also to the many tea-time caterers, to Charlie for keeping the lawns so well maintained and setting all the hoops, and to the Nottingham club for generally looking after us all.
Winner: Gabrielle Higgins 5/5 (100%)
Runner up: Omied Hallam 6/7 (85.7%)
