The CA's (Croquet England's) National Safeguarding Team is responsible for supporting Club and Federation Welfare/Safeguarding Officers. Safeguarding policies for children and vulnerable adults are in place but policies and procedures do not protect unless everyone understands them.
We are looking for a good communicator to join the National Safeguarding Team. Ideally you would have had some prior safeguarding experience (e.g. as a teacher, social worker, health care professional or in HR), but training in safeguarding children and adults in a sports setting will be provided.
You will not be expected to provide safeguarding training but rather to persuade, advise and keep a record of people following recommended external training. You will be willing to work remotely with clubs and coaches to help them understand that, although the policy and procedures may look daunting, it is simply a matter of knowing how to avoid situations arising at a club and then the four Rs of safeguarding:
- Recognise you have a concern.
- Respond to that concern.
- Refer up.
- Record what you have seen, heard or been told.
If you have an interest in safeguarding and a talent for providing clear, straightforward, reassuring advice in what could be a distressing situation then you are exactly the person we are looking for. You will be part of the National Safeguarding Team, supported by members of the Executive and a member of Council/Board of Trustees.
If you would like to have a chat about the role then please contact Beatrice McGlen or Andy Dibben either directly (contact details in the CA database) or by email to the CA office caoffice#croquet.org.uk
Anyone could be vulnerable some of the time,
Everyone should be safeguarding all of the time.
