Bowdon beat Sheffield & Pendle 4-3

10th May 2023 (AC - Inter-Club)

In a very close match, it came down to Andrew Winn winning a three ball ending against Paul Rigge to score the deciding point.

Penfield had won both the morning singles matches to take a 2-0 lead at lunchtime, with the doubles pegged down, having only 2 balls left on the lawn.

Bowdon, fortified by a lunch including a Coronation Quiche, had a good start to the afternoon, winning both the top two singles quickly, enabling the doubles to resume.

Nigel Matthews then beat the "promiscuous" James Hawkins, a former Bowdon member, but now representing his fifth club within the North West Fed.

Solid hoop running & some bold shooting saw Eugene & Lorna come from behind to win the two ball ending in the doubles to level the tie at 3-3.

In the dramatic conclusion, Andrew Winn hit in with his single ball and managed to complete the come back win in another tight ending.
