A very tight match played in breezy sunshine; 6 of the 7 rubbers went to a deciding third game. After two long games the morning doubles was drawn at 1-1, so the deciding third game was deferred until after the afternoon singles rubbers, in case it did not need to be played. Perhaps inevitably, the score after all the singles were completed was 3-3, so the deciding doubles match started at 6 p.m.. It finished after 7 p.m. at the decisive 13th hoop, with a slightly fortunate victory for Ealing. The entire match was played in great spirit.
