Sidmouth B-Level

[<<] [>>] by Peter Nelson at Sidmouth
4th August 2023 (AC)

An entry of 14 players was split into 2 blocks of 7 according to ranking. In block A, competing for the Regency Salver, handicaps ranged from 1.5 to 3. In block B, competing for the Fortfield Cup, the range was 3 to 7.

In block A Keith Ross (unattached), and John Noble (Letchworth) emerged as the contenders in the early rounds and it was fitting that they met in the last round with the winner of that match being the overall winner. In the event it was a one sided affair with Keith the 26-5 winner of the Regency Salver for the third time and making his journey from the south of France especially worthwhile. John Noble was second and Christopher Crowcroft (also unattached) in third place.

Block B was a much closer affair and 3 players ended with 4 wins each. Based on who beat whom John Low (Sussex County) was the winner with Colin Walls (Sidmouth) in second place and Richard Williamson (Bristol) in third place.
