Sussex County beat Bristol 5-2

[<<] [>>] by Gerard Healy at Surbiton
15 Jun 2003 (AC - Inter-Club)

The match took place on one of the hottest days of the year at Surbiton. This resulted in speedy lawns and lengthy games as the participants frequently broke down - in order to escape the heat of the lawns for the shade of the club house. Star of the show for Sussex was Chris Constable who won both singles games, in each case overcoming opponents of lower handicaps. For Bristol, Roger Jenkins won both of his games - in a close pegged-out doubles match he was assisted (?) by David Goacher.

With many of the games closely fought the match result was in doubt until the final two games finished in favour of Sussex.
