3rd June (AC)

David Maugham won the Peterson Cup at the Bowdon Advanced Weekend on 1-2 June 2024. A full field of 16 enjoyed some excellent weather and lovely lawns, as well as great catering ably provided by Angharrad Walters. In the first round Neil Adams had a good win over Debbie Lines, but otherwise results went with seeding. In the semi-finals Dave Kibble beat Alison Maugham +26tp, +26tp without her taking croquet, but in the best-of-five final David Maugham proved too strong and David won +25tp, +23tp, -26tp, +12tpo.

In the Plate, Ian Lines entertained the Saturday evening crowd with a slightly adventurous sextuple against Paul Rigge, and Ian then went on to win the Plate. Brian Storey presented the trophy to David Maugham (for about the 12th time), and David thanked all those responsible for yet another excellent weekend tournament.
