Nottingham beat Woking 4-2

Played in glorious sunshine in beautiful surroundings, on Saturday June 22nd, Nottingham came out on top of very tight match against a Woking team, 3 of whom spent a longer that planned time on the northbound M1!

James Death and Rick Harding put Nottingham into an early lead with a quick +15tp against Annabel McDiarmid and Mike Town, played as alternate stroke by both sides. Lorna Dewar soon followed with +25 against Andrew Dutton putting Nottingham 2-0 up. The third game between Clive Goode and Nick Harvey were pegged down as the game was very tight and not likely to finish quickly. The players adjourned for lunch before continuing battle in the afternoon sunshine.

Annabel put Woking back in contention with a rapid +22 against James before Rick restored the home sides 2-point advantage with a +24 against Mike. The crowd then settled down to watch the final two, or maybe three?, games. Andrew Dutton beat Clive Goode +10 leaving Lorna and Nick to battle out. The game tipped one way and then the other before Lorna triumphed +5 having hit a 25-yard shot when for peg and peg. By this time it was nearly 6 o'clock so I think everyone was a bit relieved that the pegged down game was not required.

The game was played in a very good spirit and the Nottingham team hope that the Woking team had a much better journey home.
