Croquet's World Cup is about to be competed for in Australia, where England's fantastic four will compete against the best players in the world, for the Openshaw Shield.

The World Croquet Federation PFC Mallets Golf Croquet World Teams Championship, competing for the Openshaw Shield, is the fourth occurrence of this contest. It will be held between Monday, 17th to Sunday 23rd February 2025 at the Northern Tasmanian Croquet Centre, St Leonards, Tasmania.

The England players will be Jamie Burch (Reigate Croquet Club), Euan Burridge (Nottingham Croquet Club), Jack Good (Bowdon Croquet Club) and the team captain, Aston Wade (Hurlingham Club).

In an article to be published in the Croquet Gazette in February, ahead of the event, Stephen Mulliner writes "The top five teams all contain between two and four players under 30. The standard of top Golf Croquet has continued to rise as the extraordinary hitting and long hoop-running performances of the best players show what is possible and increase expectations accordingly".

New Zealand are defending the title, last contested in 2020, and will be playing against seven other countries.
