[<<] [>>] by John Crowe at East Dorset
8th August 2003 (AC - Longman Cup)

East Dorset names first:
julie hudson (11) 26 doug ironside(11) 2
peter shepheard(9) 17 henley spiers(16) 14 (on time)

bob sharman & john crowe (13) 22 gerald mitchell & mike duck (15) 18 (on time)
julie hudson (11) 26 henley spiers(16) 16
peter shepheard(9) 26 doug ironside(11) 7
bob sharman (8) 26 mike duck (8) 15
john crowe (5) 26 gerald mitchell (7) 21

In the baking sun, east dorset lawns, always fast, were like glass and thus greatly to the advantage of the home team, who are accustomed to them.

For someone who has only been playing for a few months, henley spiers acquitted hinself very commendibly, and only his understandable tactical inexperience
gave peter shepheard the morning victory. mike duck and gerald mitchell also threatened to catch up and win the doubles in another tight match.

In the afternoon singles, gerald again gave a solid performance and could easily have won.
