More on the England vs. South Africa match
9th September 2003 (International)
Thanks and congratulations to the C.A. for spotting the potential for this event when David Openshaw heard that Meshack Mazibuko and Victor Dladla, the first-ever black South African croquet players, were coming to England on a privately sponsored tour. My thanks to all the top players who turned out for this event. Had one of the seven singles games lost by SA gone another way, Victor might have been involved in a nail-biting finish. But the coverage of the trip and their high level of performance will do much to encourage the coming generation of players from the "new" South Africa. for giving them such a warm welcome.
