The Executive Board is seeking a new Director of Coaching and Grassroots Croquet to join its team in driving the Croquet Association (CA) forward. This position is central to the strategic direction and delivery of coaching across the country, and particularly to the revitalisation of AC. The new Director will work closely with the Coaching Committee and with the Directors of Development and of Performance & Competitive Play to provide a co-ordinated approach to the development of our Sport and to the implementation of the findings of the competitive play review (which can be found at: Growth and Recruitment in the CA (croquet.org.uk) Competitive Play Strategy - Final Report)
The Executive Board, as a team, is responsible for the day-to-day running of croquet in accordance with the strategy established by Council. It is comprised of a Chairman and six Board Members, known as Directors, supported by the Secretary to the Executive Board, Hon Treasurer, CA Operations Manager and Chairman of Council. The Board is accountable to Council for its compliance with CA Policies but is not obliged to seek further approval from Council for its actions. Board members are appointed by Council annually and can expect to serve for a four-year term.
The role of the Board Member is primarily:
- To be a member of the forum (Board) that manages the business of the CA and implements the strategies as outlined above and described in the CA Practice Book.
- To lead a portfolio of responsibilities for particular operational functions, ensuring that the chairmen of specialist committees and other groups working in that area understand the strategies and to inform the Board of their operational decisions.
If you have the leadership skills and enthusiasm to co-ordinate and steer the committees and panels in your portfolio whilst also being part of the day-to-day business of the CA then we would love to hear from you.
Applications, in the form of a CV with a covering letter, should be e-mailed to the Secretary to the Executive Board, Andrew Willis, andrew#eastbournevillas.co.uk. Informal enquiries can be made to the Chairman of the Board, Beatrice McGlen or any other member of the Executive Board.
The deadline for receipt of applications is Friday 14th January.
