The 6th Surbiton Golf Croquet Tournament had to be abandoned on Sunday due to 4" of snow.
28 players arrived on Saturday to blue skies and some of the best lawns ever seen at Surbiton. Those taking part included AC players, Jamie Birch, Andrew Johnson and Malcolm Bigg, who were taking their first plunge at playing in a Golf Croquet Tournament.
At the end of Saturday, after 5 rounds the leading players were:
Mark (I must be the winner!) Hamilton 10/10
Rutger Beijderwellen 9/10
Tim King 9/10
Stephen Mulliner 8/8
Nelson Morrow 7/8
Chris Farthing 8/10
Some players were able to get to the club on Sunday but those who couldn't, missed a scene more conducive to skiing than croquet.
As the blocks and knockout could not be played out, it was decided to award the cup to the snowman that Tom Weston had built, as he was the only one standing at the Surbiton Club, after we had all gone home.
